Kyle did an incredible job picking up the Rapp torch after Vince’s untimely passing. Kyle wasn’t content to just tread water, and the series grew in new and unexpected ways thanks to his steady hand. When I sat down to write my first Rapp book, I found myself going back to read Vince’s original novels again and again, not because Kyle didn’t do great work, but because I wanted my take on Mitch to be as close to what Vince intended as humanly possible. During one of my frequent reads of the series, I noticed that there existed a several year gap between Vince’s novels Pursuit Of Honor and The Last Man. I thought it would be neat to set my first book in that gap, and in essence, use Vince as my literary guard rails.
