Background
After serving six years in the Marine Corps (1966-1972), I started college and went straight through to a PhD. I taught English literature and writing at UCLA for 30 years. Although I teach the "classics," I'm a big fan of the thriller genre, and a gigantic fan of Vince Flynn and the Mitch Rapp saga.
When did you start reading Vince?
I began reading Mitch Rapp in 1999 at poolside at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Jerusalem, and I've look forward to each adventure ever since.
Which book is your favorite?
Consent To Kill with the introduction of Louis Gould.
Who is your favorite character?
Stan Hurley, without doubt. He reminds me of my old Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant.
If you could be a character in a Vince Flynn novel, who would you be?
Scott Coleman. Competent, loyal. . .and a serious badass!
Is there anything else you would like to share relating to Vince and his novels or a message for Don?
As each new novel comes out, I read through the entire series again: "sport reading," if I might say, and utterly captivating and enjoyable! Like visiting with old friends.
